Since 2000, Gita has made many commissioned portrait works. She is immensely fascinated by the human face and after trying various techniques, she developed her love for charcoal portraits. The simplicity of the caharcoal medium combined with her masterful talent makes Gita's portraits unique. Her models do not pose but are photographed by Gita herself. During these photo sessions she attempts to capture the glimpse in the look of her models and bring that to life on canvas.
Despite her passion for making portraits, she also longed for more feeedom in her work and decided in 2017 to focus solely on making still life paintings.
